Prof. Dr. med. Claudio Bassetti

Born in Bellinzona in 1958, Claudio Bassetti studied medicine at the University of Basel and trained in neurology in Bern and Lausanne, followed by research fellowships in Basel and the United States. Professor at the University of Zurich from 2000, he founded the Neurocentro della Svizzera italiana in 2009. In 2012, he became Professor at the University of Bern, later serving as Dean, and Director of the Department of Neurology at the Inselspital, guiding the institution to become an international centre of reference. He has authored over 660 scientific publications and 10 books and chaired major European and Swiss neurological societies. A member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences, he sits on the boards of EOC and IRB.
